"A person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard.  A person who is on good terms with another; a person who is not hostile."  Do either of these sentences sound like the definition of a friend to you?  There are many quotes that seek to define or praise friendship from "A friend in need is a friend indeed." to "A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out."  On the subject of the word "friend", too often we have given that title to people who don't want or deserve it.

    Classmates.com Connects You

It's funny when you think about your high school years. It's amazing how time flies once it's over. Chances are you had some good buddies back in high school that you lost touch with. It's time you got the scoop on Classmates.com and became reconnected with those old friends.
How many people have you called a friend? A lot, or not so many? How many people you called a friend actually lived up to that title? "Online Networking Divas Meet in Person at Southern Festival of Books"
For some reason, which is currently beyond me. The general public (my friends included) seem to think my very young Daughters need boyfriends. This started almost as soon as they were born. During playdates I would hear other Mother's say to my little girls "is he your boyfriend?" or "you look so cute together". I was upset by this then and I am more disturbed by this now because even as infants I feel like these women are sending my Daughters the message that they need a boyfriend or a boy in there life to be complete. I am not trying to sit here and be a women's liberal boy basher. However I will whole-heartedly stand up and say my girls do not need this pressure put onto them at such a early age or ever really. Some parents might say "well they are so young it doesn't matter". I am of a different opinion though, because if I let my children be talked to like this now... at what point do I put a stop to it? Becoming the Mother to three little girls has made me more aware of the stipulations that common society seems to be inflicting on my children. I want my girls to look at me as a strong person who is willing to stand up for what I feel is right. I also want my girls to never be afraid to say what is on there mind because they are scared it might be trivial or taboo. In this trend towards subjecting our children to adult attitudes of constant togetherness, what messages are we really sending to them? Are we sabotaging our own children by our subtle interjections into there friendships? Is this a cultural thing? Or does this happen everywhere?
