Hi folks.
On Monday morning, I loaded up my two aussies to head for the vet's office because my young male was throwing up bile Sunday and Monday.
On the way to the vet's office, I go up hwy I35W and where it connects to Loop 820 I go east to Arlington to Bowen Rd to Arkansas lane Animal Clinic.
Just as one passes Alta Mesa, there is an ON RAMP which becomes the SAME OFF RAMP for cars going west to Abilene. To the east it is a twenty foot tall concrete wall and to the east of that is four lanes of freeway and another concrete wall retainer separating south and north moving traffic.
As I passed Alta Mesa I saw a CAT frantically trying to keep from being killed as it ran from left to right across the four lanes. About that time I saw someone 'clip' the cat and launch it into the air eight or ten feet..the cat scrambled on the pavement and I was past it..not knowing what happened to the cat.
Just past this ramp to Abilene ... Before one exits to Dallas...there is a small grassy area which is quite steep. I immediately pulled on to the grass and parked the car..leaving the dogs and making my way back up that on/off ramp to try to see if I could see the cat.
Soon I could see the cat was huddled next to the twenty foot concrete retainer wall about 100+ feet in front of me. I warily made my way up the 2-3 foot shoulder as semi trucks and cars whizzed past me getting on the freeway and off the freeway doing 60-90mph....until I could get to the cat. As I reached down to pick up the poor bloody creature, she looked up and meowed softly.
I rolled her into the bottom of my tee shirt and made my way back down the shoulder to my car. Somewhat concerned about getting into the vehicle which was on a slant without my dogs getting out on the freeway for curiosity about the cat.....I opened the door telling the dogs to back off..."kitty is hurt".
Being the wonderful perceptive animals they are, they quietly sat on the seats while I laid the injured cat on the floorboard of the driver side and got into the car, gently placing my feet above her so I could drive.
Arrival at my vet's office and I discovered my vet was in the ER himself with a knee injury and I had to go on to another clinic which they sweetly contacted for me.
Upon arrival and examination, it was determined this approximately nine month female kitty had lost part of her lip and a tooth but her jaw was intact. She had lost all her four pads and all claws and I am sure was 'drug' by a car for that to happen.
There was so much blood I was so afraid she had internal injuries because her entire rear end was bloody. However, examination concluded she was drug on her rear as well and she seemed to be intact.
I had her tested and she is NEG for feline leuk and other cat problems..healthy otherwise but no microchip. However, the ENTIRE TIME she was being worked on she PURRED CONSTANTLY. This is the SWEETEST CAT you will ever meet.
Some $200 later and a bag of antibiotics and pain meds and we were on our way. Since I have to see my surgeon again in Chicago this weekend, I found someone willing to nurse her back to health for me while I find her a loving home.
Today she ate a half can of wet cat food for the first time since I picked her up off the freeway!! That is a very good sign.
She
is very very sweet and very very loving.
She is white with a grey patch over one eye and ear and a grey tail.
She has yellow eyes.
I am attaching some photos and am asking anyone to please forward this email and cross post to help me find this wonderful precious baby a LOVING HOME.
I have named her MIRACLE. It is a miracle to me the cat is alive. What a day.
Thanks for your help and kind consideration in helping.
Debbie

That is a boo boo on her eye and her lip..
Her little ears are so bruised up too
And she is SO SWEET...the entire time the vet worked on her she never quit PURRING...
She has a grey tail and I want her to have a wonderful indoor home...

Blessings, Peace, Light & Love,
Debbie
