hello friends,
   I'm often telling you about help needed at the White Settlement shelter.  Well, here's something you can do in 10 seconds sitting right where you are.
 
  petfinder has a contest every year to give away money to needy shelters.  the decision is made simply by votes.  please take a few seconds to vote for the White Settlement Animal Shelter, in White Settlement, Tx..  It might sound unlikely that we could win the money, but the Human Society on Lancaster won recently, so it is possible.  You can vote for them if you'd rather.  Both are worthy causes, but let me just say this:
 
  Picture the biggest room in your house.  Now picture it wall to wall dogs kennels, with peeling paint, no windows, no fresh air, no natural light.  Let's just say that you could fit 12   4 x 3 kennels if you only allowed a narrow path down the center.   Now let's picture every kennel with a dog in it.  No wait, lets say all kennels are full and five more dogs come in.  what do you do?  well you double up some dogs, you put small dogs in cat cages, and use pop-up kennels in the narrow aisle.  Ok, that will do for now. 
  But wait, there's the bell again and here's someone with his two dogs, that he loves like part of the family, but can't possible keep anymore, because he's getting married. (or moving, or going to Iraq, or having a baby)  They are the best dogs in the world, he tells you.   Please take them off his hands.
  SO you give them one of the kennels, and move the dog in there to a pop up cage in your kitchen.  Before the day is out you have three more pop-ups in the kitchen with an animal in it.
 
  This
overcrowding happens almost every week at white settlement shelter.  It is absolutely unreal.
 
  and we haven't even gotten to the cats.  Remember your room full of dog kennels, now clear away an empty corner and stack 12 cat cages there.  fill them all with at least one cat, and now get a couple of carriers with mama cats and their kittens in them.  find some place to put them, quick.
 
  you could keep reading... because I've deffinately got more, or you could just open this link and vote for white settlement and I wont send you anymore emails about pitiful dogs and cats for a month...  maybe.
