Hi folks!

Just a brief message to remind you of our March meeting this Saturday, March 21, at 12pm, Cousin's Bar-B-Q, 5125 Bryant Irvin Rd. We hope to see you there!

Also, don't forget to keep us in your thoughts on March 31, as a large group of people across America, volunteering for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network's 3rd Annual Pancreatic Cancer Advocacy Day. We will be going to Capitol Hill in Wash, DC, to meet with our congresspersons and senators to request they increase funding of research on pancreatic cancer. We will remind them the 2% of the National Cancer Institute's research budget is not enough for pancreatic cancer, the 4th leading cause of cancer deaths in the U.S.

I always take a book to share with them, which contains not only the statistics, charts & other information, but also pictures of my brother & our niece, and many others of you have provided me with photos of your loved ones who are in there and now go with me to make sure I am able to convey not just statistics and numbers, but we want to put a face to this disease. These are real people, with families who are impacted by pancreatic cancer. If there are any of you who have not sent a photo of your loved one affected by pc and would like to do so, please email me a picture. If you have any questions regarding this, please email or call me.

We have a wonderful affiliate, with all who are doing whatever they can... I am so thankful for you all, past, present & future efforts! We are working towards the 8th Annual Ol' Country's Boot Scootin' which will be Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, again at the Amon G. Carter, Jr Exhibits Hall in the Stagecoach Room; info on website: http://www.pancan.org/Volunteer/tx/fortw/index.html  Come meet Kelly Ayala, who is working as event coordinator, & see what you can do to be a part of the affiliate's efforts to make our benefit an even greater success!  Meet Dee Pakulski, our education & outreach coordinator, who is a 13+ year survivor, & hear what she is doing to provide information to those who need it so badly. Meet Terri Nabozny, our Advocacy Coordinator, whose efforts involve working with our representatives to increase awareness & funding for research.

If you are able to attend, you will meet others who are there because of their passion to change the future for others who are faced with pancreatic cancer. You may forward this to any others you feel might be interested. We all look forward to seeing you there, if not this month, hopefully in April. We have our meetings the 3rd Saturday of the month, same time & location. We look forward to meeting you!

Always~
