So bleak the landscape
gone the holiday lights
Snow gone slushy and gray
evidence of the plow trucks
I gaze out the window
hoping for the moon to show
Not tonight though
Too gray-blue
the overcast night sky
I turn back to the dimness
living room minus those lights
February looms, short but long
post-holiday blues
I seek candles from the drawer
to chase away the gloom.
