Cats like to be pampered by their humans.  It is false to say that most cats hate water, just as it is false to say that cats are cleaner than dogs.  Vichyssoise (Vicky for short) flings drinking water over his shoulder to wet his long white fur.   Vicky meows loudly and cries until I clean his litter box.  If is obsessively clean, if someone pets him, he immediately cleanses the area with his tongue.    Mwert, the mother of all my cats lets nothing bother her.  It seems that most of my pictures of her show her licking kitten’s butts or airing her tongue outside her mouth afterwards.  She’s so used to cleaning kittens that she reacts to humans the same way by licking them.    She does so in love, so I don’t bother to tell the humans that her tongue was used to stimulate and groom her kittens immediately before licking them.  Okay, to return the love to Mwert and Vicky I give them cat spas.  The gift of a cat spa is guaranteed to bring you closer to your cat.  It’s free, it’s easy, and it’s wet.  While receiving the spa, any dirt or dander is loosened and eliminated.  The cat will be enamored, thinking only of you.  Just throw your used warm cotton towel on the bathroom floor after your daily bath or shower and your cat will sit on it because it smells like you.   Follow up with by running a warm wet rough textured cotton wash rag (just like mama’s tongue) through their fur.  Pay special attention to face, underneath the chin, ears, and butt.  Comb, brush…and if it’s shedding season give the cat a teaspoon of cat laxative to prevent hairballs.
