I'm a rose-growing, sweater-knitting, football-loving woman who hates being put in a box. I work as freelance writer, and I live in northern Illinois with my schnoodle and my husband (also a writer). Thank goodness the dog never has publisher's deadlines to meet, or we'd all go mad. For my personal, reflective writings, visit my blog at http://rhchatlienblog.blogspot.com/
What's up with White Castle's new TV spot? The commercial shows the Angel of Death hovering by an old man's hospital bed. Death gets a phone call from a White Castle cheeseburger, and the craving hits so bad that Death rushes off to the restaurant, letting the old guy off the hook.
But here's the kicker. The commercial ends with a young man ordering
a ten-sack of cheeseburgers, and Death puts its bony hand on his shoulder and says, "Good choice." Didn't it occur to anyone in the White Castle office that this commercial is sending the message, "These burgers will kill you"? How nice of them to be so honest.
At least, no one can sue them for false advertising. But if it were me, I'd get a new ad agency.

Ruth,
Per White Castle Ad- Smattering of thoughts/agreements- thanks for sending me your blog. ( delete if i wax on)..thanks ! There is genius and then that maybe would be blessed with your perspective on those whose genius seems not used to present what counts.. as life giving messages shared with those whom you share your thoughts, and I appreciate that reminder. I mean we must wonder when the Universe is spinning out wonder full colors and some are using for some pastel cliche thinking. One writer, had for some reason caught my eye, so I went to his blog. Hia name is Ken Wilbur. He is a bit a leader in the 'consciousness' dialog and has a following. His work is used by T. Keating, etc. Anyway, he had a seizure (13 in a row) and was in a coma, and he describes his repeating image of a small pastel room and he could not get out of it. Outside of it was the " Allknowing" and this awareness of his mind and the All Knowing Mind. The constant awareness of the contrast was that pastel room. As the weeks went on, he was aware that if his life was to continue on earth, it was about his serving the greater vision versus staying stuck in his pastel room? He said to do this, losing self allowed that. I think of that 'no longer i' in your letting your gift be shared too. So, with how you share your vision, and your sharing that--- I appreciate the work. I have to say amen, to your hope for spring's newness. I took a long walk and was pondering, "Think New, Not always just what " YOU KNEW"" New--to living with love's gaze today, love the photos tooo. |
