The Daily Chore
I see It Everywhere
Trash.
Refuse.
Rubbish.
Waste.
Crap -- that’s all it is.
In the kitchen pantry
In the restroom
In the bedroom
Saintly-sweet and vanilla-scented
Shreddings of Sunday’s news,
Strewn strips of sticky Styrofoam,
Splashes from smashed soda bottles …
Somehow scattered coffee grounds too.
A snapshot of Life,
And all that …
Played out
At the bottom of a plastic can.
I dispose of it Daily
Every
Single
Morning.
