I have an idea that might seem radical, but I beg you to read my thoughts, take a moment to think, and then, only then, form your opinion. My idea deals with what is being called a Health Care Crisis in this country. I agree that it is a crisis, but I don't agree that there is one cause for which one solution can eliminate the crisis. I believe the crisis is fueled by several active contributors to the crisis.

My idea follows a precedent that has already been accepted and is in use in most states. Think of the Unemployment Insurance process. An employed worker becomes unemployed and the state government pays that now unemployed worker an income during a specified time period calculated to give that worker time to find another job. The worker has lost his/her
main employment benefit - income and the state pays an income benefit to that worker from an insurance trust fund.

Apply this process to the next most important benefit of employment - healthcare insurance, and you can see the similarity. A healthcare insurance bridge between one job and another can help relieve the current situation and there can be many variations and mutations available to state lawmakers. The main point is that people work for two reasons and families depend on employment for those two benefits: income and health insurance. In our current world, one is as important as the other because both involve the family's economic health.

This plan could be step down the road to relieving the health care crisis, but I have not heard anyone offer this suggestion for serious consideration. I wonder why not?
