What am I Doing Wrong or Not Doing Right? Please Help

I like simplicity. I write about simple things like easy (simple) time management and customer service without slogans, just good sense. I enjoy auto racing, opera, jazz, puppies, and sunsets. There's nothing better than a glass of wine watching a brilliant sunset listening to Oscar Peterson's piano. Life is good.
OK, I admit I don't understand all the "ins" and "outs" of posting articles and blogs on here so people can find them through Google and click on an ad Google puts next to my posting. I have no idea what or where my website is on PNP and clicking on View Your Website doesn't show me a distinctive URL that's mine. I don't know how to put an ad on my website as advised by Google. I don't know if any of my articles and blogs are even being shown by Google to people entering a keyword found in my postings.
When I first started posting, I knew better than to expect instant
result. Then, after only a few days, my Google AdSense account told me that I had made 54 cents, I shouted to my wife that we were on our way to a comfortable retirement. But, sadly, that was the last time Google reported any earnings in my AdSense account. Now, after two articles and a dozen or so blogs, I'm puzzled and, frankly, discouraged. I don't know what I am doing wrong, if anything, because I'm not sure I know what I should be doing.
If you have any ideas to help this non-geek old guy make some money along with enjoying seeing my name and writing in print, I would welcome your thoughts. End of rant. -30-

For one thing, I would recommend that you just stick with it. It may take a while to really build up much of a stockpile of articles/blogs. However, if you keep at it, you'll start to earn some income. Also, remember that you are paid for your postings in perpetuity, meaning that you might not earn very much in one day, but if you end up earning one dollar a day then that's one dollar each day that you're doing no current work to earn but still receiving.
