I am at this moment at a hospital in Tampa, Florida where my mother-in-law is expected to die any time--because of second and third degree burns over more than half her body.
What happened?
She was cooking breakfast just this morning when her apron caught on fire. Suddenly, she was engulfed in flame. She was able to call 911 and get help--but her burns were
too deep. She was alive when she got to the hospital, but she probably has not been aware of anything since--because she is so sedated. Good thing. The pain otherwise would probably be tough.
The doctors in this, the top burn center in Florida, says home burns are the most common. My mother-in-law will add to those statistics.
Conclusion: be very careful with fire. It can kill.

I'm so sorry to hear your Mother in Law is in such a state. I hope she is pain free and doesn't suffer...be at peace.

She died yesterday. My wife, her daughter, stayed with here from the time she got there--about 1 a.m. until she died about 12:04 p.m. Her mother was so sedated and covered with dressings it did not look like she heard anything her daughter said to her. The doctors said the last thing to go in such cases is hearing, and they believed she heard my wife talking to her. I hope she did because my wife certainly spoke love as she talked.
Thanks for you comment. I do not think she felt pain. |
