hey all,

Cool little story i found on the discovery channel website. Apparently Scientists Have found a fossil some 390 million years old, of a sea scorpion claw which would make the size of these ancient insects over 8 feet long.

This new evidence leads Scientists to believe insects were much much larger then previously thought in those times.

Can you imagine if scorpions were that big back then its plausible that spiders and cockroachs were that large as well. Scientists speculate that the scorpions were cannibals and so size helped in that respect. They also believe that they kept increasing in size in order to compete with their prey, armored fish. Eventually they were wiped out by larger fish with jaws and teeth that could deal with them easily.

Pretty cool Stuff. More information can be found here
