Hi there. I am young college student and father of one looking to enlighten the world with my seemingly vast knowledge of gadgets, sports, and general know-how. Let me know how I can be of service to you.
Let me know what you think about this. I could really use the input to keep my writing skills on point. How many times have you turned on the radio only to turn it right back off because you hear the same twelve songs come on over and over again? Is it just me or is it when one song finally gets out of the rotation there is another song right behind it that you are already getting tired of? I believe that this is the reason why Nas said that hip-hop is dead. Its not because mc skills are lost or that people can't move a crowd anymore, but because instead of rapping for the enjoyment and the upliftment of our people they are rapping for money. The alternative for attempting to stay true to the culture is abandonment. They might end up like Loon. "No friends"
and on a low-class label and mediocre record sales when he got dropped from Bad Boy Records. All this because he was trying to stay true to the culture. Some have been able to spin that solitude into success by spinning their independency into major profit. Take Jim Jones for example. By going independent and only using a record label for proper promotion. Now he's ballin'!!! And has the actual money show for it.
Record sales have been at an all-time low since everyday people have grasped the art of the download. And the numbers are continuing to plummet now that everybody and their grandmama has an iPod or an mp3 capable phone. It is more convenient to just download an entire album or to burn the tracks that you want than to go out and buy it. And not have to listen to the redundancy of the radio.

If any form of music is dead, it is because the record labels are killing it. Not downloads.
The record labels promote music, get certain songs on the radios, and essentially tell us what to like by dictating what we hear. The only way to circumvent that is to keep requesting other types of music or songs from your local stations; or to download to find what you want. Downloading would be a great thing if we could find a way to stop the piracy... |
