Michigan's economy sucks. With many of the Motor City's namesake companies cutting jobs due to sales decrease, many of it's residents are suffering. In fact most people I know are killing themselves working two full time jobs just to make ends meet. Debt, foreclosures, and people leaving state for better jobs or just a job is quite prevalant.
While driving to my mother-in-law's, (where I am currently residing ON HER ENCLOSED PORCH as I too have been hit by the effects of Michigan's economy hammer as it fell) I saw a sign on the side of the church on the corner of the block. The sign read "HELP WANTED: Sundays- 11:00 to 7:00 pm. I continued reading. On the bottom it said
"Compensation= Eternal Happiness". At that point I wanted to jump out of my car, pull the damned sign off the church and shred it in the middle of the street. Eternal Happiness my ass. A pot to piss in I could work with. But "eternal happiness?!" I thought. When Christians are supposed to be the light in the sesspool that is sometimes refered to as society, I was enraged. I get less patronization in the welfare office.( those of you that have applied for state assistance know what I am saying) While I can appreciate the wit that whoever created the sign intended to imply, I can't help but realize that some things are tasteless. That happening to be one of them...especially as how they were probobally the ones that voted Republican.
