Kyocera Knives - One of the Only Manufacturers of Top-Notch Ceramic Kitchen Cutlery

Kyocera is a well-known company which makes phones, cameras, printers, and many other consumer electronics. Our main thrust here is kitchen paraphernalia, so we ignore the other distractions.Stay tuned to learn more about their unique cutlery.

Kyocera, the Company.

Kyocera is a major company internationally that manufactures a wide assortment of wares. Their wares are very widespread, but the biggest part of their products fall under the consumer electronics space. Alien to most, Kyocera got their start by focusing on the development and manufacture of high-end ceramics used in products. Kyocera takes its title from a coalescing of Kyoto, Japan, the city of its origination, and the term "ceramics". Their expert knowledge allowed them to create new and unique cutlery.

Kyocera Ceramic Kitchen cutlery.

Ceramic cutlery are nothing short of revolutionary. The long lasting edge of a ceramic knife can be sharper and stay sharper longer then most typical stainless steel blades. Ceramic knife blades are often a gratifying surprise for those use to using dull steel blades.

The blades of ceramic cutlery are pathogen-resistant and will not rust. Ceramic edges, unlike high-end steel cutlery, do not demand immediate washing after use.

At last, ceramic blades will not give your ingredients a metallic flavor when using. With such characteristics to think about, kitchen cutlery become quite appealing.

The caveats to Kyocera Ceramic Knives? Well, there are really a few. First off, Ceramic is delicate. Because it is brittle, a ceramic knife may be broken if it is dropped on a hard counter. Steel cutlery will not do that. One of the issues concerning ceramic cutlery is that they are difficult for the home cook to sharpen. Even though the blades of ceramic cutlery last well, you will need to see a pro to resharpen them. Finally, High-end steel cutlery can be made slimmer and sharper than ceramic cutlery, since ceramic cutlery are brittle.

These downsides, taken in combination, mean that professional cooks do not often buy ceramic cutlery. But many an amateur cook is comfortable with these compromises and strongly advocates for their ceramic knives.

The Products.

Kyocera's high-end product line is called the 'Kyotop' series. Their blades have a damascus patterned blade and pakkawood grips. The Revolution series is the more mainstream line - it's geared to get the upsides of ceramic knives to the avid home chef.

Kyocera also offers a complete line of scissors, graters, sharpening tools and a mandolin slicer.
