1. Not encouraging people to click on your affiliate links. Write great reviews concerning the product which are are promoting and post them on your blog, hub, lens, website etc.  Another great method is to offer free report which has useful information and of course all your affiliate links.

2. Failing to come up with marketing strategies, believe me merely placing your affiliate links on your website, then hoping for the best will leave you disappointed. Aim to devise new tactics to drive traffic to your website weekly.  Traffic building has to be worked on weekly at the very least,  view it as an on-going thing.

3. Not keeping a track of your affiliate promotions. Check it's performance, use url trackers if you have to; this way you are able to pinpoint where to focus your marketing efforts on.  Do a search on the search engines, there are some services which actually offer free url trackers.

5 Not being passionate about the affiliate program which you are trying to promote; if you can't manage to convey a strong interest for the product, others are less likely to invest in it either.  If I were you I would'nt even bother with a program that I had mimial enthausiasim for.

7. Many affiliates fail to keep up with recent developments in the industry. Their marketing techniques become stale, before they know it they are being left behind. To be successful with affiliate marketing, you have to keep your marketing skills up to date - do a course if needs be.

8.  Don't become
lazy, just because you have experienced some monetary success with your affiliate program, there is no excuse to become complacent. Success has to sustained. If you leave your business to fend for itself, then you are scoring a home goal.

10. Believing that affiliate marketing is an easy way to make big money.  Like everything in life, it has to be worked at; it take diligence, determination, time and financial investment.

11. Don't promote too many products, some affiliates are so eager to make money that they promote too many products.  The upshot is their blog/website is a sea of banners and links and just looking at it gives you a headache.  Filling a site with just banners, does little to inform or wet the appetite of a potential customer.  It is hard work writing reviews and articles, but I tell you it does pay off in the long run.

12. Not promoting enough products,  many affiliate go the other extreme and only promote one product, although this make keep things simple for the affiliate it provides no choice for potential customers.  Personally speaking a like to be presented with a choice and not limited to one product, so be brave and promote at least 3 products.  By promoting 3 products it means that you always have something to fall back on and aren't you are left out in the cold if a company suddenly goes bust.

In conclusion, promoting affiliate programs can be rewarding, challenging and a great way to make money online.  So keep at it and read as many articles as you can because you can never know too much where affiliate marketing is concerned.
