If you wondered; yes the Flat Belly Diet does work. However, reports would have us believe that the specific belly area will shrink and leave us with flat abs, even though the diet simply recommends eating a healthy well balanced diet and getting regular exercise. It sounds similar to Granny Clampett's magical cure for the common cold; drink lots of water and in just ten short days it will be gone!
So if amazing Flat Belly Diet will make my tummy shrink, it is likely that most other parts of me will disappear too. Therefore, any common sense diet and exercise plan does the same job, and you do not have to starve yourself to do it. After reading the first three paragraphs about the Flat Belly Diet, I began to wonder what the hullaballoo was all about, but I admit I was still curious about the Sassy Water, so I investigated further.
A recent post on Huliq.com by Iria (2008) reported that Sassy Water was in fact, named after Cynthia Sass, the editor for Prevention Magazine (para.3). I am thankful for this news because my train of thought was headed back to the hills and Granny's stump water barrel. I was relieved to find seemingly harmless recipe here, and it is as follows:
"Sassy Water; 2 litres/31/2 pt water, 1 tsp freshly grated ginger, 1 medium cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced, 1 medium lemon, thinly sliced, 12 mint leaves. Combine all ingredients in a large jug, chill in the refrigerator and let the flavours blend overnight" (para.4).
I was glad to see thatThe Daily Mail (2008) drew attention to stress relief in their reports, an important variable to consider if you are overweight. Learning how to relax is important for many reasons, and being prone to continual stress over time wears the immune system down and our bodies release an influx of hormones which can cause us to gain significant amounts of weight, as well as making us susceptible to various physical ailments (para.4).
Drinking plenty of regular water was also recommended for losing weight. This is a well known fact, contrary to popular belief that additional water intake will lead to increased fluid retention. Water helps our bodies to detoxify, and it is common knowledge that at around 6-8 glasses of water each day is an acceptable addition to a diet.
The initial process of losing weight involves avoiding most of the junk food the average person eats these days, including the basic starchy, deep fried, over-salted, take-away drive-through meals which are chased down with a can of soft drink.
Incidentally, it is not necessary to break your tailbone doing 400 crunches every morning to exercise your abdominal muscles. Like many other people, I resent getting down onto the cold, hard floor so I figured out how to "Get A Flat Tummy Without Situps."
I wholeheartedly I agree that this amazing new Flat Belly Diet will work. However, in exchange for a $20.00 co-pay your family physician will tell you to eat fresh fruit and vegetables, grilled lean meat and fish, nuts and whole grain bread, and move your butt a bit longer on four days out of each week. Be careful though, excessive indulgence in Sassy Water may result in the need to stay close to home!
