Since I was young, I've always had high dreams,
high hopes, and I've always thought I would live a high life,
But all I had was the leftovers from the rich,
The used stuff left by the more fortunate.
And how good the feeling was for getting those
second hand clothes, but so humiliating to be seen buying them.
I remember in school, when it was winter,
Knees shaking, Ears numb, Oh! How about the hands,
it always felt good when mama got us those second hand sweaters.
I still struggle, I still cry at night and I still get those leftovers,
but I have learnt to live in hope and I know, one day there will be a difference.
