I know its funny to see the people on COPS taking the sobriety tests and failing horribly. I used to laugh at it too until i almost lost a loved one in a drinking and driving accident. It was St. Patrick's Day and he'd been drinking downtown. I guess he had finally decided he'd had enough and was going to go home with his girlfriend and pick up his truck the next day. Apparently his freinds told him not to leave his truck downtown because it might get broken into. So he came up with the brilliant idea to drive his truck home by following his girlfreind.

Well at some point he must have been going at a pretty good clip because he came around a corner, side swiped a parked car, went through 3 lawns, missed a house by about 3 feet and wrapped the truck around a pole.  Now keep in mind this was a truck he still
owed a significant amount of money on, and his insurance was high from the first DUI he had aqquired at the ripe age of 17.  Thankfully that time no one got hurt. He was so out of it they had to restrain him in the ambulance and again at the hospital.  He will be in debt up to his chin for years now after all the fines he racked up and the money he owed on the truck that he totaled, and the car he hit that the people were trying to sell. Which he also had to pay for. If he would have hit that house the room he could have smashed into could have been a babies nursery, and he would have to live with that for the rest of his life if he hurt the little boy or girl.  People don't consider stuff like that when they are drunk.

Drinking and driving is no laughing matter. You don't really realize how not funny you can be until its someone you love that gets hurt.
