Is Direct Sales really something you want to do?  Does it sound too good to be true?  It might depend all on your own intentions.

Have  you been looking into trying to sale a product through a direct sales company but have not had much luck?
Do you get depressed and just give up?
What were your intentions when you first signed up?
Were "riches" dancing through your head like "lollipops and bright colored lights?"

Just because the person that brought you in is doing well does not always mean YOU will.  But why are they successful and you are not?  YET!

Re-examine the reason you decided to sell the product in the first place.  Did it catch your eye, your interest.  Of couse it did or you wouldn't be selling it in the first place.

Now, what do you have to do to get your home based business off the ground and keep it in the AIR.

How much time and effort you put into is the main key.  There is a quote I see from time to time that makes all the sense in the world to me.  "If you holler down a well what you have to sell, no one will hear you".  You have to put TIME & EFFORT into your product.  That is all there is to it.  If people do not know what you have and who you are, how are you ever going to get business?

PUT YOURSELF OUT THERE!  Stop whispering and start yelling!

If you dedicate " 2 to 3 hours" a day to your business, well; it might work.  It is at least something and consistent.  Also, always carry something with you, a business card, a flyer, a catalog etc.. something.  People have to know who you are, where you are and what  you offer.  With this in mind your sales WILL increase.. with time.

I do not believe in the get rich quick and I have not yet met someone who "GOT RICH QUICK".  Running a home based direct sales business takes time and effort.  But with this it can pay off.   You have to also love it.  Love what you sell, love the work.   Also do research on your product before you decide to sell it.  Find out some things before you sign into one of these.  Let's look at some facts.

Did you know that their are actually over 300,000 people out in our nation looking for some kind of home based business!  Over half will sign in to something, some get rich quick schemes like "cashcrate", or these "survey" companies promising high amounts of income.  I see this one probably more than others.  The reality of Cashcrate and these other survey companies is YES you can make "some" money depending on AH HA:   time and effort!  These survey websites will pay you something to take surveys, what kind of surveys ????   and do they really mean anything????   The realism to these sites is "DOWNLINE".  The more people that sign up under you the more money YOU will generate.   Now, don't get me wrong, I have nothing against Downlines.  I view a DOWNLINE like this.  If you worked in an office, any kind of office that sells a product, that company also has a DOWNLINE.  It is called "the Sales department!"  You have a Sales Manager and his Sales staff.  But this department is the meat of the company.  Without the sales staff they wouldn't have a business.  This goes for Home based business'.  You are now the Manager /owner and you have to create a "Staff".  How else are you going to market your product.  And with more people on  your Sales Staff the more "your" company will do in income!

Now also do not get discouraged because you had a slow month.  Every business is going to have a slow month.  But you can't give up.   Keep promoting yourself over and over and over again.  Look for ways of marketing yourself.  The internet is good depending on what you get into.  Some sites are just their to take "Your money", advertising that they can generate business towards you for a fee.  Same as anything else, research it before you do it.

Now bring in that excitement you had when you first signed up, this is what  you need to keep with you at all times.  Whenever you talk about your product, talk about it with the same enthusiasm you had when you first got into this business.  If you have already done some business in the past and you have a customer base, keep them abreast of all your upcoming sales and new lines.  These are people that liked your product to begin with and can be a continued customer, but you cannot be afraid to follow up.

Investigate the direct sales business before you jump in.  How long they have been in business,  I do not see as too important based more on the product it offers.  If the product is of high interest, low cost, low investment and high growth potential might make this product the one to invest in.  Reason being, the world is always looking for something new, different and interesting.  If the company is "new" their growth potential is going to be higher than one that has been around for many, many years.  Where you stand on the ladder in some home based business's is where you will reap more and faster benefits.

There is one company right now I see to have a great potential and Yes, it is the one I am in myself.  I have not "gotten rich overnight", but my expectations were not that.  My expectations were to make some extra money and possibly a full time job down the line.  I had a goal in mind when I first started, and now I am re-setting my goal for sooner than later, why?  Because it looks like I might reach my goal sooner than later.   It was almost a year before I signed on with  this company I represent.  I had a friend selling the product and I liked the product.  We bought from her and "continued" to buy from her.  But I didn't think Direct Sales was my cup of tea.  I didn't mind going to "parties" or hosting one for someone,  but within a  year we started seeing our income decline some with the economy.  More expenses were coming in, the same money was also coming in which was making it a little hard to continue the lifestyle we had accustomed ourselves to.  So as with any other, we started cutting back and started looking for something else to add to our household income.  My husband was the one that told me " I would be stupid if I didn't do this", and he was right.  Numbers tell the truth, and if this company could have such a high growth within one year, then I knew the consistency will still be there for quite some time.    My potential with this company will be as with any other home based business, how much time & effort I put into it is what I will receive back.

Also, believe in yourself and believe in your product.  You also need a support system from your spouse and family.  Running any kind of a home based business takes time, effot and support.  You and your spouse have to be able to help each other and understand that sometimes you might have a slow month and at times you may fly!

The home based direct sales business I joined is only four years off the ground, but when I heard it was running at a "600%" increase in business,  I quickly signed up.  This is a company in its infancy and with such a high increase in business within just that one year didn't take this analytical mind too long to ponder the potential I might have.  Yet, I am not and have not expected this for myself.  This is a business like any other business.  You have to treat it like a baby, you, yourself have to nurture it, care for it, carry it and wait for it to grow.  I have a certain goal in mind and I plan to reach it.  You, yourself should do the same.  Do not put high expectations on yourself though,   put realistic goals to maintain.  With this you will grow and succeed.

With the economy slumping and staggering, everything you touch now is more expensive than it was a year ago.  With it, I believe people should have a second plan in hand.  We shouldn't depend on our full time employers to bail us out financially, because they themselves are struggling to keep up also.  Their added costs are going to filter down to the employees also.  So having something on the side, in place that can generate some extra cash and maybe more down the road is only going to further yourself.  It runs the same as the government now opening up our off shore drilling.  HOW, is this you may ask?

Well, if opening up our off shore drilling will take five years or so for the public to really reap any benefits,  the same  holds true for  starting a side business within your own household now.   It might take you a year, two years or five years to reap any benefits from it.  Again, TIME & EFFORT.  But the sooner you start the sooner it will pay off.
