Tread carefully all ye citizens, lest the leg-irons of socialism cripple the foundation of freedom ye so eagerly bind with infringing intent. Our schools and Universities are sad examples of a populace willing to cast yesterday's freedoms into the waste bin of lore. Guaranteed rights are scorned as the enlightened elite tell us we have little need for freedom of speech, religion, or self protection.

Nowhere is this more evident than in our centers for educational edification; as freedom of thought is often discouraged in lieu of a presumed superiority – one supposedly found only in the tenets of Marxism. Quashing rights isn't a new discovery, nor is it normally sold in a manner retaining a likeness to reality. Instead we're sold a bill of goods as we fasten link after link to our chains of servitude, while succumbing to the false promise that this time, socialism will work. It never does work as promised – though it's fantastic if the goal is deprivation of freedom – and, seemingly, we the people never learn this lesson as we stridently march from citizen to subject.

As some fervently work to disarm the populace, supposedly under the guise of security, one has to wonder if these same people dare apply their own logic in their domain.

THIS HOME IS UNARMED and the INHABITANTS are UNABLE TO DEFEND THEMSELVES.

While I've not had the pleasure of personally viewing each home in America; I suspect that signs declaring an inability to defend are not commonplace. Apparently some subconscious desire for self preservation prevents people from actually employing the very tactics they endorse. Reason dictates that if disarmament equates security: those believing in the theory ought to be advertising their defenselessness to all who will listen. As is always the case, this medicine is prescribed only for others.

The
quaint though dangerous belief that someone - who has determined a course of action which includes violence that will likely result in death - would somehow magically decide to obey a sign declaring a “gun-free” zone would be laughable, if only the results weren't so horrific. The perpetrator has already violated a myriad of laws, yet we're supposed to believe that this one law is the one that would've stopped him. Statistics demonstrate otherwise.

GUNS CAUSE CRIME IN THE SAME WAY PENCILS CAUSE MISTAKES.

Blaming the tool is little more than a demonstrated act of cowardice: a defiant attitude toward freedom and responsibility (the cornerstones upon which this nation were founded). Many in our society are inclined to punish the law abiding, via infringements on individual rights, rather than taking a tough stance on the criminals themselves. Hysterical demands for “reasonable” gun control laws are typically sold as a rational response to a problem conjured; this is in addition to the fact that the hysteria is brought about solely on the basis of emotional outbursts subverting informed thought.

Wishful thinking aside, as we trudge blindly through the process that is our daily lives, there are others who seek to do us harm. The primary purpose for the inclusion of the Second Amendment, in the Bill of Rights, is security – against all threats, both foreign and domestic. In fact the Second Amendment can be thought of as our 'reset' button; to be used in case government goes awry. But government, while the primary concern expressed by the framers, is not the only threat we face. As the framers noted: self defense is most certainly an unalienable right.

As government rushes – on behalf of those seeking to curtail individual rights – to decrease security while insuring an unimpeded target for those unwilling to comply, we ought to be questioning the motives behind such actions. After all, if you won't fight for your rights, who will?
