First of all, in full disclosure, I purchased this at Walmart. I never shop there for ethical reasons but times have gotten tough and they had the cheapest prices on this 'big ticket' item we needed. A similar item at Target was nearly $70 more. We opened the box right in the parking lot as it was the only way it would fit in our Camry. The outside of the box was damaged but we figured there would be ample packaging protecting the product. Wrong. The base of the rocking chair was scuffed and dented and a small piece of the wood was missing. right then we could have turned around and returned the product. But we decided against it for myriad reasons (baby getting tired, that walmart is particularly skanky etc etc) and so took the glider home. We immediately had to free the cushions from their plastic prison to help dissipate the smell. They needed to sit on the porch for a couple of days in order to be smell-free enough to bring inside. As my husband put together the
glider he noticed a crack in the seat part of the rocker. Again, we debated about returning it. Again, we decided our time (and gas money) is precious so...no. Ok, the product is entirely put together (warts and all) and I have been using it for 4-5 days now. The peacefulness and absolute bliss of rocking your baby can't be beat and this chair does provide that. The cushions, aside from their chemical-ly stench are not very cushion-y. I have an injured tailbone so it may just be me. The ottoman slides on our wood floors. We may be able to remedy that with grippy material on the bottom. The color I chose, beige, was a bit dirtier looking in real life than online. That can't be helped though. I am unsure if Storkcraft is at fault for the damage or Walmart. I suspect both. Storkcraft needs better packaging and maybe Walmart delivery people need to not throw the stuff around. I wouldn't really recommend this product. It is an ok chair for an ok price. If you have the money, go for a better chair. Sometimes a higher price does mean better quality.
