I am a 31 year old wife and mother of two. I have always loved to write. Friends and family love the things that I write and have encouraged me to step out and begin to where others can read my work. So, here I am.

If you're a stay-at-home Mom staying up late using your "me" time to search the internet for work you could do from home, a Home Referral Service (and called a Homeowner Referral Network (HRN) ) is something you may want to check out.

Stay-at-Home Mom Worked From Home Happily
I had always worked until I became pregnant with my first child. Once I got past the feeding every two hours, getting to the place of my little one sleeping through the night and taking regular scheduled naps, I was wanting to do some kind of work that would allow me to stay home with my son.
So, I decided to do some research on the Internet. And one day I came across a link, to a lady, named Debra Cohen who had started a business called a Home Referral Service and was offering buisness packages that you could purchase to get started.
A Home Referral Service or a Homeowner Referral Network (HRN) provides homeowners with reliable, screened contractors. The contractors who are represented in the network pay a commission to the Home Referral Service.
Once I checked out this link, I was excited and shared the idea with my husband. We researched this possible opportunity for several months. We also contacted Debra asking her questions, like, "Would this really work for a stay-at-home Mom?" And she was helpful with her answers. Debra Cohen was a stay-at -home Mom who had left corporate America to be a Mom and started this business.
My husband and I purchased a buisness package and got started.
The first thing I had to do was to set my buisness up legally. In setting everything up, the one thing I embraced about his buisness was the fact that there was low overhead. And that was wonderful!
Once all the legal stuff was in place, then I started calling the contractors. To begin with, this was the most time consuming. When I called them I was inviting them to be in my network. We discussed our commission agreement, their experience and the fact that I was going to check them out. Once I had all the information I needed from them to be approved as reliable, then I could start referring them to homeowners that needed their services.
Once I had a good list of about twenty contractors that were experts in various fields, I was able to begin advertising. It took me about two to three months to get my initial base of contractors in place.
In my business package Debra Cohen provided suggestions to follow that were as easy as your ABC's. I personally followed her suggestions and they worked for me and my business.
I was able to schedule my working hours around me taking care of my family. And I was able to have play dates, run errands, exercise, go on vacations, etc. And another thing I embraced about running a Home Referral Service is I could run my business from out of town if I needed to.
So many things was a match for me to run a Homeowner Referral Network.
As a Mom who was staying at home and was used to working a 9-5 job or a twelve hour day, you can feel like you need to do some thing to help your other half make ends meet. And this was one business that helped me do that. After my first year of being in buisness I was able to start making a profit. I was in buisness from May 2002 to December 2006. I closed my buisness because of some personal life changes my family and I were going through at the time.
Before deciding right away to do a Homeowner Referral Service or any kind of business as a stay-at-home Mom, you really need to evaluate what kind of time you want to put into it. Also, you need to ask yourself if this will work around your schedule with your kids or if  you can add it to the mix of your days and make it work.
Somethings that helped me to have a successful business was taking the time to build a good , strong, network of contractors who were reliable. And all through out the growth of your business you will continually add more contractors. It's just important that you have a variety of contractors whom you build a great business relationship with at the very start. And you want them in place before you start advertising. I cannot express enough how important this is. Another thing is, I networked a lot with the community and other businesses. And I advertised with smarts rather than hard work, a lot of money and time spent. Meaning my Homeowner Referral Network got successful media coverage without me having to spend a lot of unnecessary wasted money and energy that would have ended up with no results. Debra Cohen's Business package guided me on how to do that.
Overall, my own personal experience of operating a Homeowner Referral Service was great and successful for me. It's not a get rich quick business. And there were challenges that I had to overcome on my own or with the help of Debra. There were things that I had to learn on my own as well. And those things are there in any business you would own.  If they weren't there you and your buisness wouldn't grow.
So, if you're a stay - at- home Mom staying up late using your "me" time to search the Internet for work you could do from home, a Home Referral Service ( and called a Homeowner Referral Network (HRN) ) is something you may want to check out. There's a lot of scams out there targeted to stay-at-home Moms who want to work from home. Debra Cohen's business opportunity is not one of them.
If you're in the position I was in several years ago, check this line of buisness out  and see if it would work for you.  I wish you the absolute best!!!
