If you're among the lucky ones, you haven't experience this too much in your working life. Unfortunately, there are more of us that can say they have had at least one bad boss/manager. You might not have even noticed it during the interview, but once you're hired it hits you. Then you think to yourself, what do I do...how do I change this situation. It's a difficult situation to deal with since you spend most of your hours with this person.

But let's break this down. How do you know if you have a bad boss/manager? Well there are simple signals that you can see. One is simply by looking around at your co-workers and seeing how long they've been with the company. If they've been there for a long time with the same person, chances are they can work well with them. If there is a huge amount of turnover, then there's an issue. Also, by how your boss handles him/herself in situations, how they handle conflicts, how they deal with clients or other co-workers. Again, it's a good idea to try to
notice as much as you can. Of course you have to ask yourself, can I get along with this person? Can I deal with this? If you can't and can find another job quickly, then that might be the best idea. However, not everyone can do this, so you're stuck with this person. Well, one thing you can do is try to make the best out of the situation and talk to your co-workers. See what they think and how they deal with things. Talk to your family/friends and see what they would do or how they have handled the situation.

Although it's frustrating, you must remember that you can't change that person. You can change how you deal with difficult situations and handle yourself with problems. Once you have accepted that the person isn't going to change, things will be a little easier to handle. I also think having a good sense of humor and not taking yourself too seriously helps a great deal. There's plenty of stress out there in the world. It's good to laugh sometimes and not take things too seriously. That is not always easy to do, but when you do, you'll feel MUCH better!
