Shaving is plain and simply part of a man's daily grooming regimen. Whether we like it or not, society has deemed a clean-shaven face more presentable and professional. So, unless you're growing a beard, you need a superb aftershave product to sooth and calm your face after each bout with the razor!

What men's aftershave do you currently slap on your face every morning? Is it a drugstore brand such as Gillette or Nivea? Or maybe you go all out and spend the bucks on a designer aftershave product found in the local department store. For some men, these post-shave healers work fine. However, some guys like to get the best bang for their buck when it comes to quality aftershave.

Let's take a look at those drugstore aftershave products. In my personal experience, most of them like Brut, Old Spice, Gillette and Edge don't work so well. Not only do they fail to calm freshly shaven skin, but they leave a gunky, tacky feeling behind. That's no good! While they may not cost much, they don't exactly deliver stellar results either. To this day, the best drugstore aftershave I've ever tried is Nivea after-shave balm. This sells for about $7.50 a bottle.

Now let's consider the pricier post-shave healers. Everyone has seen the countless designer
colognes in the various department stores. Well, most of these come in the form of an aftershave splash, balm, lotion or all of the above. However, just because they cost 40-70 dollars a bottle, doesn't mean they're the best! Some that I've found to work well are; Issey Miyake after-shave balm, Chrome after-shave balm, Obsession after-shave balm and Acqua Di Gio after shave lotion. These aftershaves calm the skin and leave behind a wonderful fragrance, which is what you're truly paying for.

Finally there are the men's aftershave products that fall somewhere in the middle. They're not exactly designer, nor are they drugstore brands. The three I recommend and have tried personally are; Baxter or California aftershave balm ($15), Jack Black post shave cooling gel ($18), Kiehl's Ultimate men's aftershave balm and moisturizer ($16.50) and Sharps Kid Glove Hydrating gel ($16). Out of the countless post-shave healing products I've tried, these four are the best and most affordable. They will do wonders for your clean-shaven skin!

On a final note, try to avoid aftershave products with alcohol, which tend to dry out and irritate the skin. If you suffer with acne or razor bumps on a regular basis, you might want to try Brave Soldier Code Blue after-shave gel ($16). I've heard from several guys that this stuff works wonders. Take care of your mug! You only get one.
