One thing is for certain, when you tackle college, you want cheap text books. Whether you're heading to the local community college or a four-year University, school can be quite pricey, and that's just paying for your classes; not to mention room and board. Text books can sadly be that straw that breaks the camels back when you're a struggling college student. If you haven't gotten there yet, just wait; you'll soon have a reality check when you hit that annoying campus book store.
When I first began taking
classes at a University, I hadn't really considered the drastic costs of college text books. I actually figured around 50 bucks, tops. Wow, was I naive and clueless! After my first encounter with the intimidating isles of the campus book store, I thought to myself; where can I find cheap text books? The prices in the campus bookstore were absurd! Unfortunately many new students feel that they have no choice but to buy the books in the bookstore, because they need them for a specific class. If you're truly lucky, you'll get there before all the used copies of text books are completely sold out.
While this common college experience was rather daunting, I soon chose to scour the Internet for cheap text books. So, here's a bit of advice to all you new students, if you have your schedule and know what books you need, then go ahead and find them USED online. Websites like Amazon.com offer a huge variety of books that are used and new. More than likely you will
find them for a lower price than the campus bookstore demands. Take total advantage of these cheap text books and save some serious bucks.
Here's a primary reason to find cheap text books for school; when you venture back to the campus book store at the end of the quarter or semester, they'll feed you a lot of garbage about how your text books are no longer in demand. They now have a fresh version of that text. Even better still, if they do want to buy your books back and sell them as used, they'll pay you virtually nothing for them, hence making an absurd profit off of you, the broke college student. Let's say you paid 100 dollars for a math textbook; they'll peer up at you from their little price charts and say, "We can give you $23 for that." What a joke! Furthermore, these new profits are all going directly to the bookstore. None of it goes to the writer or publishing company. I noticed that certain professors I had refused to be affiliated with the campus book store in any way. It's like they resented them. Instead, they steered their students to the local "underdog bookstores." AKA the little guy.
Basically it comes down to your finances as a
college student. Who can afford to spend extra cash on textbooks in college? Most students have to be stingy with their cash. Therefore it's prudent to always search for cheap text books online. It's highly likely you'll discover what you need for a reasonable cost. In addition, keep an eye out around campus. Many students will post text books they have for sale since they've completed the course, and they'll sell them quite cheap!
