When you think of college, you probably picture tall brick buildings on a bright green campus of aged trees and flocks of students shuffling in all directions. Well, the rules have changed a bit. With the Internet being the phenomenal medium that it is, college classes are now available online. Big surprise there. While I've personally never had the pleasure of taking an online class, I have seen and heard how they work. This new form of learning without classrooms and parking issues will surely revolutionize the education and careers of many. Welcome to an era of options!
If you've attended a University within the last five years, then you've probably come across online classes at some point. Maybe you've toyed with taking one or two. In all honesty, I tried several times to take online classes while in college. The only problem was that none were available for my major or minor. What a bummer! A co-worker of mine took numerous online courses in math and science. He loved them and constantly reminded me how convenient they are! From what he told me, they generally consist of receiving and turning in assignments online or via email. How easy is that? While the college load and assignments still require a similar amount of work, you have a more relaxed environment to work in. Your apartment, house
or dorm room. Tests and exams too are completed online; of course at the instruction and time frame set by the specific professor.
Online classes are a wonderful new way for many individuals who already have a career and lives of their own, to gain additional higher education for other job opportunities, or even simple pleasure. If you do a little browsing on the Internet, you'll find a wide selection of online course information regarding a variety of universities. In fact, most universities now days offer this type of education. You may not find every branch of study or interest with available online classes, but there are many to choose from.
Only in the 21st century will you find such amazing convenience as online classes. Who'd have ever thought we'd be taking a class from our living room or lounging on the bed with a lap top? Whether you've already attained a college degree or not, online classes can benefit you in the work force, but without the hassles of driving to school and finding a parking space with the thousands of other students. Believe me; that is no picnic! Been there, done that. Online courses are a godsend. By the time our children are grown, much of the university hassles and expenses may be done away with. As long as higher education continues to expand, who knows what the future holds in regards to college degrees, master's programs and online PHDs.

Thanks for the replies! It's so cool how you can take a college class at home!! In all honesty, I would miss the on-campus experience if I took all courses online. However, it's great for some courses and does offer a break of sorts form the norm.
