Well written, great detail. Perhaps my outburst may have been out of frustration.

Of course you're frustrated! How can a parent not be when teachers give our children mind-numbingly dull homework assignments without teaching the children 1) why what they're learning is important 2) how repetition will reinforce the lesson 3) how the work is relevant to their lives? The end result is the kids bring the busywork into the home, where their frustration is reflected by the whole family. It's really sad. Teachers need to remember that children are human beings. It's possible to help them understand what school work is all about, and how they might benefit from it. Most teachers just don't try.

I have to agree with you on receiving letters. The only ones I get anymore are Christmas letters & they just aren't the same & are usually typed.
